Brazile Under Fire: ‘I Did Not Expect to Come Out of this Unscathed’

The chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee and CNN announced a “conscious uncoupling” today after WikiLeaks revealed that Donna Brazile fed Hillary R. Clinton questions she was to be asked at CNN townhalls.

One of the questions was about the death penalty and another was for a special townhall in Flint, Michigan, as described in Breitbart Monday:

“One of the questions directed to HRC tomorrow is from a woman with a rash,” Brazile wrote in the email’s subject line. “Her family has lead poison and she will ask what, if anything, will Hillary do as president to help the ppl of Flint.”

LeeAnne Walters, the woman who asked that question, said on her Facebook page Monday that she found the revelation “appalling.”

After the Flint disclosure, Brazile tried to muddy the waters with this tweet: “I did not expect to come out of this unscathed. But I am surprised at the amount of scathing based on stolen hacked emails,” wrote Brazile, who had been a paid contributor on CNN.

Politico reported that Brazile and CNN parted ways two weeks ago:

In a statement, CNN spokeswoman Lauren Pratapas said that on Oct. 14, the network accepted Brazile’s resignation.

“On October 14th, CNN accepted Donna Brazile’s resignation as a CNN contributor. [Her deal had previously been suspended in July when she became the interim head of the DNC.] CNN never gave Brazile access to any questions, prep material, attendee list, background information or meetings in advance of a town hall or debate. We are completely uncomfortable with what we have learned about her interactions with the Clinton campaign while she was a CNN contributor,” Pratapas said.

Brazile was being positive in the morning, and she ended the night philosophically:
