President-elect Donald Trump plans to nominate Todd Ricketts, co-owner of the 2016 World Series Champion Chicago Cubs, as Deputy Secretary of Commerce.
“Todd is an immensely successful businessman,” Trump’s spokesman Jason Miller told reporters on Wednesday morning. Miller said Ricketts will streamline government so it works for the people.
Miller also added that the Ricketts family turned around the Chicago Cubs and, according to Miller, that’s an example showing that Ricketts can win on a number of different levels.
Ricketts’ brother is Gov. Pete Ricketts of Nebraska and he is the son of Ameritrade founder Joe Ricketts.
Gov. Ricketts supported Trump after he became the 2016 GOP nominee.
However, the Ricketts family gave millions to an anti-Trump super PAC in a attempt to defeat Trump during the Republican primary election, sparking Trump to take to Twitter to blast the Ricketts family back in February.

Despite the earlier spar, Trump’s transition team thinks Ricketts will promote fiscal responsibility by tackling wasteful and excessive government spending.
