Judicial Watch Sues Air Force, Secret Service for Michelle Obama Vacation Records

Public interest group Judicial Watch announced today that it filed a lawsuit on May 31, 2012, requesting records from the US Air Force and Secret Service on Michelle Obama’s hoity-toity February ski vacation to Aspen, Colorado with Sasha and Malia. The Secret Service and Air Force both received original requests, but have not turned over any records.

Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton asked, “Why is the Obama administration repeatedly stonewalling basic questions about the costs of the Obama family’s personal travel? In the least, the Obama administration owes the American people the truth about how much each of these trips cost, instead of stonewalling and obfuscation.”

Judicial Watch has, in the past, uncovered extensive evidence of high spending on Obama vacations; Michelle’s 2010 trip to Spain cost taxpayers nearly half a million dollars, and her 2011 trip to South Africa and Botswana cost well over $420,000.
