Saturday evening at Right Online, I had the honor of presenting the first ever Andrew Breitbart Award For Excellence in Online Activism and Investigative Reporting. AFP President Tim Phillips explained that the organization changed the original name of its award to honor Andrew Breitbart, as he revolutionized both new media and the conservative politisphere.
The award’s recipient, the Flash Report’s Jon Fleischman, is an example of the fearlessness Andrew espoused when discussing how new media should tackle politics. Fleischman is well-known in his home state of California and regularly exposes corruption, gossip, and legislative silliness on his website. Fleischman’s reputation precedes him in Sacramento, and lawmakers are loathe to discover their names in stories bearing his byline. Fleischman is effective and relentless, exactly what Andrew expected of new media. Congratulations.
