Bosun Obama Chasing the Good Ship Romney/Ryan

The Obama campaign’s latest personal email is about as succinct as any of those emails have ever been. That’s probably because they’re out of breath trying to keep up with the good ship Romney/Ryan that now has the wind behind it and is racing for the finish line.

But even though the ship Obama’s moonsail, skysail, and topgallant sails are flagging, it is good practice to cast an eye backward to ascertain their plans for picking up a breeze.

The email (with commentary) reads:

It’s August 23rd. And 75 days from now, I’ll either be looking at another four years in the White House — or the end of this opportunity.

Opportunity for what? To finish turning America into a socialist state?

I know what’s at stake for the parents worrying about health care, the kids who need help to go to college, and the seniors who want a secure retirement.

He knows what’s at stake? Here’s what’s really at stake: the liberty of every American.

But we’re getting outspent by wide margins in critical battleground states — and what we do about that today could be the difference between winning and losing on November 6th.

Bosun (Boatswain) Obama got his name because the boatswain plans the tasks for the crew and oversees the work given.  But the boatswain doesn’t keep any of the watches. He’s not responsible for keeping guard over the ship, just as Obama feels no compulsion to guard America from future debt, union takeovers, and Islamist fundamentalism.

But now that the sails of the ship Obama are wilting, there may be interesting days ahead; standard technique in this situation is to lighten the boat. Which bodies will be thrown overboard in order for Obama to chase after Romney and Ryan?
