Iowa Showdown: Ryan, Biden to Campaign in Hawkeye State Monday

Republican vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan and Vice President Joe Biden will both be in Iowa duking it out in the crucial swing state. Ryan will be in Des Moines and Biden will be in Burlington.

Early voting begins in 10 days in Iowa. President Barack Obama and Mitt Romney are tied in the state, with Obama leading by a slim 0.2 percentage points in the RealClearPolitics average of polls in Iowa.

This will be Ryan’s third trip to Iowa since Romney selected him as his running mate, and his appearance in Des Moines comes after a weekend in which Ryan seemed to suggest the Romney campaign needs to do more than just run as the default candidate against Obama’s economy.

Biden will campaign in Iowa on Tuesday in Ottumwa and Grinnell College, and Ryan will also come back to Iowa many a time before November, trying to appeal to working class voters, especially in the eastern part of the state.
