Pelosi: Better Off, You Ask? The Nerve!

Nancy Pelosi, in one of her Top Ten Moments of Gall, questioned how Republicans could possibly, in good conscience, state that the country was worse off now than it was four years ago:

The Republicans have the nerve to pose that question, when if you look back to four years ago this very week … you would know that we are indeed fundamentally and unquestionably better off as a country today.

Pelosi then tried to spin the story this way: four years ago she met with then-Treasury Secretary Hank Paulson and Federal Reserve Board Chairman Ben Bernanke about the fiscal crisis. She then had the nerve to say it was all the Republicans’ fault: “How on Earth can people who perpetrated that situation on our country have the nerve to turn around and ask that question?”

Pelosi claimed the Dow Jones average has doubled under Obama, (don’t mention the inflated money supply, Nancy)  the auto industry is coming back (really? GM premiered on the market at $33 per share in 2010. It now trades at just under $23 per share. U.S. taxpayers are on the hook for $42 billion, GM bondholders got pennies on the dollar, while UAW workers cleaned up) and private-sector jobs have increased for the last 30 months (would someone tell this woman that the “economic recovery” is the worst of the last 100 years?)

Pelosi babbled:

If Republicans had cooperated at all with President Obama in the last two years, we’d be much farther down the road to recovery. We cooperated with President Bush, but they would not offer an ounce of cooperation to President Obama, and our economy has paid the price.

You cooperated with President Bush? Hmm. And didn’t you have a supermajority in the Senate, control of the House, and the White House for two full years? You screwed up, and Americans took you to the shed in 2010.

The real problem for Pelosi is that she’s spent a career lying, and all that Botox has frozen her mouth into a rictus snarl that won’t let her do anything else.
