Michelle Obama Fundraises at Oprah's Old Studio -- Without Oprah

First Lady Michelle Obama held a fundraiser on Thursday at the former home of Oprah Winfrey’s Harpo Studios in Chicago. Noticeably absent: Winfrey.

Ed Klein, author of The Amateur, has written that Michelle Obama’s “jealousy” and “resentment” made her relationship with Oprah come “unglued.” Klein reported Michelle Obama would not even return Winfrey’s phone calls.

Winfrey endorsed Obama in 2008 and campaigned for him; she may have played a huge role in helping Obama win the Iowa Caucus, which propelled him to the nomination and the White House.

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, the fundraiser at Oprah’s former studios was hosted by the Generation Forty Four group, and tickets ranged from $100 to $3,500.

Later in the evening, Michelle Obama attended a second fundraiser at the home of Chicago media mogul and Democratic donor Fred Eychanar.

That fundraiser included members of the Obama campaign’s LGBT Leadership Council, and tickets ranged from $1,000 to $15,000.
