Yesterday, Democrat Tammy Duckworth, who is challenging incumbent Republican Joe Walsh in the redrawn 8th district of Illinois, told a local television crew outside an event for veterans in Santa Monica, CA that she could not speak to them about her campaign because, she claimed, “This is purely a veterans’ trip.”
However, the day before, Duckworth had attended a high-dollar fundraiser in Fremont, CA hosted by Democrat Rep. Mike Honda.
The fundraiser was coordinated by Tammy Duckworth for Congress finance director Leah Israel, who was also with Duckworth at the veterans’ event and tried to prevent local media from interviewing her.
Rep. Walsh has criticized Duckworth for her out-of-district travel for fundraisers and other events.
Despite Duckworth’s wish to keep a low profile, information for the fundraiser was published in several places on the Internet.
