Milwaukee Voters Taken to Polls in Federal Vans

In Milwaukee, some federal Job Corps vans are being used to take voters to a polling place. A Jobs Corps employee pulled up in his van with federal plates to the Clara Barton Elementary School just after 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday. A Job Corps administrator inside the polling station admitted that roughly 125 Jobs Corps members had been ferried over in the vans.

The Job Corps is a division of the United States Department of Labor. Job Corps’ vans and staff time are paid for by taxpayers.

One of the classrooms inside the school functioned as a polling place; near the ballot counting machine, a photo of Barack Obama hung on the wall. There were no other photos of U.S. presidents or American historical figures in the vicinity.
