Reverend Joseph Lowery, who said at a Georgia rally that he believed all white people "were going to hell," will reportedly be with Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama in Chicago tonight.
Lowery, who gave the benediction at Obama's inauguration, later said his comments were a joke, even though reporters at the event did not think they were. That excuse seems to have been enough for Obama's campaign.
The Atlanta-Journal Constitution first reported that Lowery would be heading to Chicago, but the Obama campaign has not confirmed Lowery's attendance.
Lowery has had a history of controversial racial comments.
At another Georgia rally last month, Lowery said if Obama were white, "there would be no question on who was going to win."
