Dallas Woman Whines About Gun-Toting Chuck Norris Cutout at Mall
In NorthPark Center Mall in Dallas, Texas, the Urban Outfitters store had a cardboard cutout standing last week that seemed innocuous enough; it was a huge stand-up of Chuck Norris holding two guns titled “Walker, Texas Ranger.”
But on Monday, three days after the Newtown, Connecticut shootings, Mahra Pallet, a Dallas woman with two small children under the age of five, saw it, and suddenly the cutout became a target -- for her.
About 20-feet into the store, I was confronted by a huge cutout of Chuck Norris. It was about 7 feet tall, a plywood cutout of Chuck Norris in character holding two guns. And it stopped me cold. Given what has happened recently, the tragedy in Connecticut. I was shocked.
Pallet spoke to an employee who gave her the company’s 800 number, which advised her to fill out an email form on Urban Outfitter’s website.
That didn’t satisfy Pallet, so she posted her feelings about the incident on Facebook, eliciting enough blowback that the cutout was taken down.
Pallet, having gotten her way, intoned, “There’s just a certain sensitivity that I think we’re going to have to cultivate if we’re all going to live together and move forward.”
