Cliff Eve: House to Reconvene Sunday

Speaker Boehner has alerted members of the House that the chamber will reconvene Sunday evening. The announcement was initially made on a conference call Thursday afternoon with members of the GOP caucus. 

It isn't clear whether any votes are scheduled or even if any progress has been made on negotiations to avert the "fiscal cliff." At midnight on Monday, New Year's Eve, a number of tax provisions expire and a round of automatic spending cuts are set in motion. 

Both parties are eager to avoid blame for the economic uncertainty that will ensue in the new year.
