The hacker group Anonymous has threatened to take down the Manteca, CA police website if their demand for the firing of Officer John Moody is not met.

Manteca is a city of nearly 70,000, located east of San Francisco in California's central valley. On December 18th, Anonymous posted a video on YouTube which refers to an officer involved shooting which took place in the city last year.

The shooting occurred on June 8, 2011: Officer John Moody and a 2nd officer stopped parolee Ernest Duenez Jr. which ended with Duenez being shot multiple times and killed.

It took the district attorney's office 18 months to clear the officers of any wrongdoing. In the meantime, the two officers involved were given a restraining order against the deceased man's brother who had been heckling them on the street.

Days after the officers were cleared of any wrongdoing, an attorney for the Duenez family released the dash cam video of the incident, which is now on YouTube [warning graphic]. The family has also filed a $25 million dollar lawsuit against the city which claims that Duenez was unarmed and tangled in a seatbelt when he was killed.

The Anonymous clip, which features a computer voice added to video of someone in a Guy Fawkes mask,  demands that officer Moody be fired. If he is not, the clip warns, "Anonymous users will act appropriately with the inevitable shutdown of the official website."

Manteca's police chief says he views the Anonymous clip as a "valid threat." The city's IT staff have been told to be aware of a possible cyber attack. The full Anonymous threat, including graphic video, appears below.
