Second Amendment Foundation Requests Meeting with WH, Denied

A meeting scheduled for Thursday at the White House with Joe Biden will feature the NRA as well as the National Sports Shooting Foundation, but the Second Amendment Foundation, which was formed to guard gun owners’ legal rights, was not invited, even though they asked to come.

In their attempt to pretend they are listening to all sides, the White House had Biden meet with gun control groups and families of victims of gun violence on Wednesday while scheduling a meeting with video game developers for Friday, but Biden made it clear that Obama is going to act unilaterally in the end:

I want it clear to the American public that on behalf of the president, we're reaching out to all parties on whatever side of this debate you fall. But the president is going to act. There are executive orders, executive action that can be taken.

Alan Gottlieb, founder of the Second Amendment Foundation, could see how Obama is already shutting down any opposition:

It is kind of surprising that we were not invited. I am sure the NRA can represent gun owners, but for the administration, it would be better to have more players at the table. This administration seems more interested in demonizing gun rights and gun ownership than they do actually solving problems. It is unfortunate because it would be nice to solve some of the problems, like helping people with mental illness from getting their hands on a gun.

The fig leaf of inviting the NRA while eschewing inviting other pro-gun groups won’t hide the fact that all of this is for show; when it’s over Obama will stick to his guns in order to take away ours.
