Gore Happy with Obama on Climate Change
Al Gore took time away from counting the cash in his bank account from selling Current TV to Al-Jazeera to compliment Barack Obama on the remarks in his inaugural speech regarding climate change.
Gore had ripped Obama in the past for his inaction, notably in a 2011 Rolling Stone interview where he slammed Obama for having “never presented to the American people the magnitude of the climate crisis.”
But then Obama loftily proclaimed in his inaugural address:
We will respond to the threat of climate change, knowing that the failure to do so would betray our children and future generations. Some may still deny the overwhelming judgment of science, but none can avoid the devastating impact of raging fires, and crippling drought, and more powerful storms.
The overwhelming judgment of science? Depends on whom you ask.
But Gore couldn’t contain himself:
His forceful commitment to take action will rekindle the hopes of so many that we are at long last approaching the political tipping point, beyond which we will finally start transforming our economy to sharply reduce global warming pollution and safeguard the future.
Transforming our economy to sharply reduce global warming pollution? What new ways will Gore/Obama find to cripple industries?
On second thought, if Gore were truly worried about gases being emitted that pollute the air and warm the environment, he would shut up.
