CA Dems Push 10 New Gun Laws

According to the Brady Campaign, California already has the nation’s toughest gun laws. But after the Sandy Hook massacre, Democratic lawmakers in California are pushing harder than ever for even more laws, despite the fact that enforcement of current laws remains shoddy. Democrats appeared today in Sacramento to show off ten proposals that would make it even more difficult to obtain a gun in the state.

Los Angeles Mayor and Telemundo reporterette aficionado Antonio Villaraigosa showed up to the event, where he blabbed, “This issue of guns and gun violence is not just a public safety issue, it’s a public health issue.” Meanwhile, police continued to search for a former LAPD officer who shot three LAPD officers and two civilians.

The proposals from Democrats included limits on sale of semi-automatic rifles with clips, regulation of ammo sales, and background checks for ammo purchases. “I think it will make a real difference,” said Senate President Pro Tem Darrell Steinberg. “There is no single answer,” he continued, “but these bills would represent the toughest measures in the nation.”

Undoubtedly these measures will pass. Undoubtedly Gov. Jerry Brown will sign them into law. And undoubtedly, violence using guns in the state of California will continue.

All of these gains are nominal, you understand, but for terrified American policy makers and investors, nominal is just fine.
