Mark Kelly Attended Gun Control Rally Day After Buying AR-15

On March 5, gun control proponent Mark Kelly bought an "assault rifle" and a semi-automatic handgun at Diamondback Police Supply, Tucson, AZ. On March 6, he attended a Tucson rally with his wife, former Congresswoman Gabby Giffords, to "call for tougher gun-control laws."

The rally was held at the plaza where Jared Loughner shot Giffords in January, 2011.

In covering the rally, the Los Angeles Times reported that out of all the gun control supporters, "Kelly and Giffords have emerged as top voices in the call for stricter regulations."

Speaking at the rally, Kelly said that his wife inspires him every day. And that often, "as she heads off to therapy, the last thing she'll" do is remind Kelly to  "fight, fight, fight" for more gun control.

Three days after purchasing his AR-15, Kelly put up a Facebook post saying he was going to hand the gun over to the Tucson PD. He has not said whether he will also be handing over the semi-automatic .45 caliber pistol he bought on March 5 as well. Perhaps he will keep the pistol for trips to the gun range in between gun control rallies?

All of these gains are nominal, you understand, but for terrified American policy makers and investors, nominal is just fine.
