Citing three anonymous sources, the Washington Post's Carol D. Leonnig and Peter Wallsten reported Thursday that Sen. Bob Menendez (D-NJ) is being investigated by a federal grand jury in Florida over his ties to donor Dr. Salomon Melgen, an opthamologist for whom Menendez has been accused of performing political favors.

Breitbart News has tracked the relationship between the Senator and the donor since the scandal first broke, including Menendez's undeclared travel with Melgen in the Dominican Republic, his apparent intervention on behalf of Melgen's interest in a Dominican port security contract, and other alleged efforts on Melgen's behalf.

In January, Menendez repaid nearly $60,000 to Melgen for flights on Melgen's private aircraft that Menendez had failed to disclose to the Senate, in apparent violation of Senate ethics rules.
