Boston: Chaos At The Courthouse As Bomb Threat Evacuation Follows Arrest Rumor

It was a tense and chaotic scene outside the Moakley Federal Courthouse in Boston as rumors of an arrest in the Boston Marathon terror case sent media scurrying to courthouse only to see them ordered to push back as a bomb threat was made on the building.

Employees inside were evacuated and jurors were forced to leave their belongings behind as a “code red” alert announcement sent everyone in the building outside. Meanwhile, police boats gathered nearby and a fire truck and bomb sniffing dogs were dispatched.

After about an hour, the U.S. Marshall service confirmed that a bomb threat had been made and the building had been swept for explosives. Given the tight security and daily sweeps of the building by Federal security personal, the chances of successfully getting a bomb inside the Moakley building seem low but authorities were taking no chances in light of the Boston Marathon bombing.

A press conference about the Marathon bombing was scheduled at the Courthouse Building for 5pm Eastern.
