Democrats Pick Pro-Gun Senators to Carry 2014

While Democrats are pushing gun control with all their might in Washington, D.C., they are picking pro-gun senatorial candidates for Montana and South Dakota in hopes of keeping those states in their column after the 2014 elections.

In Montana, where Sen. Max Baucus (D) is retiring, former Montana Gov. Brian Schweitzer (D) is considered the Democrat favorite to run.

Schweitzer is pro-gun, for the most part, although he does have a soft spot for expanding background checks.

In South Dakota, where Sen. Tim Johnson (D) is retiring, Rep. Stephanie Herseth Sandlin (D) is considered the Democrat favorite to run.

She has earned somewhat of a pro-gun reputation by opposing bans on gun ownership and on concealed carry in the Washington, D.C. area.

The problem Democrats face with either of these candidates is the duplicitous appearance of fighting to take away Americans’ guns via federal legislation while simultaneously trying to convince voters they can trust two Democrat Senators–one in Montana, one in South Dakota–to fight for the people’s right to keep those guns.
