Voters Shun Weiner: 'I Already Said I Didn't Want to Meet You'

New York Mayoral candidate Anthony Weiner, mired in a fresh sexting scandal, canvassed door-to-door at a Harlem housing complex Thursday and lashed out at staff and reporters when he realized voters were not particularly thrilled to see him.

RealClearPolitics reporter Scott Conroy followed the candidate around on Thursday and reported some of the more awkward--and revelatory--moments. When he was frustrated, Weiner blamed aides by saying, "This is no good, the way you have this organized... This is N.G. -- not great.”

When one woman told Weiner, "Please stop knocking on my door," explaining, "I already said I didn’t want to meet you," Weiner reportedly commented, "This is quite a mess. Quite a mess.”

When Weiner, fallen from first place to fourth in the polls, knocked on another door, one woman reportedly told him, "You’ve been in here already... Why are you coming back?"

Weiner blamed reporters who were along with him for not noticing he had previously knocked on that door. The candidate also mocked and snapped at a British reporter, reportedly telling her, "It's hard to take you seriously." He also continued to denigrate and berate his aides in public.

And Conroy reports Weiner had another cringe-worthy exchange with one supporter who had an Israeli flag in his living room:

When one supporter invited Weiner and more than a dozen members of the media into his apartment, the candidate noted the Israeli flag the man had displayed in his living room.

“Are you Israeli?” Weiner asked.

No, the man answered, explaining that he is a Christian who believes in the central role Israel would play in paving the way for the second coming of Jesus Christ.

“Got it,” Weiner said. “But don’t you also believe that we have to be wiped out before the Messiah can return?”

“No,” the man replied.

“OK, we’re cool,” Weiner said. “Thank you for inviting us into your home.”

RealClearPolitics has a lot more details about Weiner's awkward and disastrous door-knocking adventures.
