Oklahoma Murder Suspect Posted Racist Tweets, Facebook Posts
James Edwards, the 15-year-old charged with the first-degree murder of Christopher Lane, 22, posted numerous racist tweets on his Twitter and Facebook accounts. Police said Jones confessed and told them the teens were bored and wanted to kill someone. They claim the attack was random, but the authorities are looking through all social media to see if there was a racial aspect to the crime. The suspects are black and Lane was white.
From The New York Post:
Edwards, who is black, tweeted in April, “90% of white ppl are nasty. #HATE THEM.”
Three days before Lane, who was white, was fatally shot last Friday while jogging, Edwards tweeted, “With my n---as when it’s time to start taken life’s.”
And one day before the murder, he wrote on Facebook, “I’ve never been this made in my life.”
In another post that day, he wrote cryptically, “Bang 2 drops in one day.”
Another tweet said, “Ayeee I knocked out 5 woods since Zimmerman court!:)” The term “woods” is sometimes used as a derogatory term for white people.
Chauncey Lane, 16, is also charged with first-degree murder and Michael Jones, 17, drove the car. Lane was jogging near his girlfriend’s home in Duncan, OK. Lane was from Australia and attending East Central University on a baseball scholarship.
An online donation fund for Lane’s family is over $150,000. His friend Michael Veal started it to help Lane’s parents come to America, fly Lane’s body back to Australia, and cover funeral costs. ECU also set up a fund in Lane’s honor.
