Senate to Narrow Syria Resolution

Senate to Narrow Syria Resolution

The Senate will reportedly narrow the draft authorization for military force against Syria that President Barack Obama submitted after announcing on Saturday he would seek congressional approval for military strikes against Syria.

According to The Hill, Sen. Pat Leahy (D-VT), the Chairman of the Judiciary Committee, reportedly said on Sunday that there would be a rewrite of the resolution because it was too broad. Leahy made his comments after attending a classified briefing on the matter.

“At the stakeout [Leahy] said that there will be new language drafted in the Senate for consideration, that the administration understands that, and that the current version is too broad,” a Leahy spokesman said, according to The Hill
