Sister of Suspected Boston Bombers in Court for Drugs

Bella Tsarnaeva, sister of suspected Boston Marathon bombers Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, showed up in a New Jersey court on Monday to face charges for her December 2012 arrest for drug possession and distribution.

Last December, four months before the Boston bombing, police went to Bella’s Fairview home when they got a domestic violence call. They smelled marijuana and arrested her and boyfriend Ahmad Khalil.

Tsarnaeva and Khalil pleaded not guilty last May. Bergen County prosecutors think Tsarnaeva will be admitted to an intervention program before her trial. There is no evidence linking her to the Boston bombing.
