Report: Albuquerque Pro-Abortion Group Discovered to Be OFA Affiliate
The main group opposing Albuquerque’s Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Ordinance has been found to be an affiliate of President Barack Obama’s Organizing for Action (OFA).
According to pro-life organization Operation Rescue, the pro-abortion Respect ABQ Women Coalition is working with OFA under the banner of “Stand With Women,” which is coordinating a national effort against the municipal ordinance through BarackObama.com.
Operation Rescue received a copy of an email regarding a “Stand With Women” national conference call held on October 24. The email originated from Kaili Lambe, who is the Women’s Issues Coordinator for Obama’s OFA:
Tonight, OFA is hosting its first monthly Stand with Women call, and you don’t want to miss it.
In the last several weeks, volunteers have hosted more than 100 house parties and events around the country – folks are fired up and ready to fight for women’s rights.
To talk about all of this amazing work, and to take a look at what’s coming up next, we’re hosting a strategy call tonight, Thursday, October 24th, at 8:30 p.m. Eastern Time – RSVP right now.
Rep. Donna Edwards will join us to talk about what we’re doing to promote women’s health, leadership, and economic security – and what we can be do for women at the national level to ensure everyone gets a fair shot.
We’ll also be joined by Jennifer Lawson, the field director for the Planned Parenthood Action Fund – she’ll give us an update on women’s health issues across the country.
This is a great time to jump into this issue and hear about some of the great work coming out of the Stand with Women campaign…

During the “strategy call,” Jennifer Lawson of Planned Parenthood Action Fund in Albuquerque reportedly solicited funds and volunteers to help in the campaign against the late-term abortion ban.
Troy Newman, president of Operation Rescue, said:
It appears that Obama is behind an organized effort to ensure the continuation of late-term abortions up until birth, and is attempting through subterfuge to subvert the will of the vast majority of the people of Albuquerque who oppose the heinous practice of aborting babies halfway through pregnancy and up until birth.
“These are the same leftists who are condemning support for the ordinance by national pro-life groups. The deception is appalling,” he added.
Albuquerque’s Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Ordinance, set for a city-wide vote on November 19, was placed on the ballot through a grassroots Direct Legislative Initiative with 27,000 signatures from Albuquerque voters. The initiative, if successful, would ban abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy.
In September, the Albuquerque Journal published the results of a poll asking likely voters whether they support or oppose the ballot measure to ban most abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy. The survey found that 54% support the ballot measure, while 39% oppose it.
While still a state senator in Illinois, Barack Obama backed the now-outlawed partial birth abortion procedure and has been an avid supporter of unrestricted abortion and Planned Parenthood.
In April, Barack Obama became the first sitting president to deliver an address to Planned Parenthood. Praising the abortion industry giant and condemning its critics, Obama said, “You’ve also got a president who is going to be right there with you, fighting every step of the way.”
Obama’s concluding comments were, “Thank you, Planned Parenthood. God bless you.”
During Texas state Senator Wendy Davis’ (D) filibuster against a bill that banned abortions past 20 weeks of pregnancy in that state, President Obama also tweeted his support for her.
