Arizona HS Student Attacked, Suspended for Confederate Flag on Truck

A junior at Millennium High School in Goodyear, Arizona was suspended after another student allegedly attacked him over the Confederate flag on his truck.

The junior, Jacob Green, told Fox News: “I’ve done nothing wrong. I’ve flown that flag on my truck. Somebody fought me because of it. I didn’t fight him.”

The school sent an email to Green’s parents as well as the parents of the student who allegedly attacked Green, telling them that both students were suspended. The email informed Green’s parents that the Confederate flag was no longer allowed on their campus.

Agua Fria United School District Superintendent Dennis Runyan said: “Open display–bringing it in–has proven to be patently offensive to certain groups and the courts recognize that.”

Green contends that that flag stands for “more independence” from government. He said those who flew that flag during the Civil War were fighting to be free from an overreaching central government.

Green’s parents are thinking about pursuing hate crime charges against the student who allegedly attacked their son.
