Romney Son Criticized for Tweeting Selfie from Scene of Accident

Mitt Romney’s son, Josh, received some ridicule on Twitter for tweeting a photo of himself grinning next to a picture of a car wreck after he rescued four people from a car that crashed into a home during Thanksgiving.

He also shared the news on Facebook: “I was the first on scene to the huge accident on 4500 South last night. Fortunately, nobody was seriously injured and I was able to lift all four passengers out of the car. The car just missed us at the intersection and hit this house going about 70 mph. You can see from the pic that we are in the homeowner’s kitchen.”

Romney has political aspirations, and some in Republican circles have even suggested that he primary Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) while others have floated a future gubernatorial run.

The Daily Beast’s Lloyd Grove said the tweet made Romney appear to be a “self-obsessed braggart.”

On Twitter, Romney received responses like, “Only a Romney would see this as a photo op.” Another person tweeted, “Why are you smiling, you twit?” One person said the tweet was “tacky as hell.”
