Biden: My Ancestors 'Didn't All Come Legally'

On Wednesday, Vice President Joe Biden said that he has illegal immigrants in his family tree. “My great-great grandparents came escaping the famine and they didn’t all come here legally,” Biden stated. “They didn’t all come legally. And the existence of the system isn’t all truncated like it is now.”

Biden was answering a question from a member of his audience who said that her ancestors came from Ireland legally. He then suggested that perhaps her ancestors had come over illegally as well: “I’d check your ancestry to make sure that they did come legally if that’s a concern to you.”
