Democratic Senators, upset with the White House’s botched rollout of Obamacare, are apparently overjoyed at President Obama’s injection of former Clinton experts into the administration. Last week, the White House announced that John Podesta of the Center for American Progress would be joining up to head up the energy and climate change section of White House policy; former legislative director Phil Schiliro has been added to handle Obamacare; Katie Beirne Fallon became director of legislative affairs.
Senator Jay Rockefeller (D-WV) said that the additions were “long overdue,” and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (R-NV) said that the addition of Podesta and Beirne would “help so much in getting good political judgment in the White House.”
Meanwhile, Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) added that she hoped Obama would let Congress lead the way more often: Obama, she said, “very much needs the Congress and the degree to which he can become closer and more personal with members, the better.”
