Pew: 52% Say Democrats 'Concerned with the Needs of People like Me'

A Pew poll conducted January 15-19 indicated that a twenty-two-point differential exists between the majority of respondents who believe that the Democratic Party is more concerned with their needs and the minority who favor Republicans. 54% of those surveyed found the Democrats more compassionate while only 32% voted for the GOP.

Additionally, 52% of the respondents chose the Democrats as the party more willing to work with the opposition; only 27% chose the GOP.

Democrats won when those polled were asked which party was more ethical, 41% to 31%. 54% of respondents said the GOP was more extreme in their positions; only 35% picked the Democrats. 47% said the GOP was more influenced by lobbyists; only 30% said the Democrats were.

The most favorable result for the GOP was when those polled were asked which party could manage government better; 41% picked Democrats and 40% chose Republicans.
