First Lady Poll: Michelle Obama Ranks Above Hillary

A survey of historians as to who has been the greatest first lady of the United States found Michelle Obama ranked ahead of Hillary Clinton. Obama was fifth, Clinton sixth, while Eleanor Roosevelt was ranked first. Roosevelt was followed by Abigail Adams, Jacqueline Kennedy and Dolly Madison. The poll was conducted by the Siena College Research Institute, which has conducted the poll five times since 1982.

The poll results were comprised from 242 historians and political scientists; the categories listed to rate the first ladies "courage," "integrity," "value to the country" and "accomplishments." Obama was popular in the categories of "being her own woman" and "value to the president," while she lagged behind others in “being the White House steward."
