Chris Christie Will 'Consider' Legalizing Edible Marijuana for Adults
New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) said on Thursday that he would consider legalizing edible marijuana for those over 18 years of age.
"If there becomes a large adult population that needs this type of edible (marijuana), I'll consider it," Christie said at a town hall event, according to CNN.
Last year, Christie signed a bill that "allows dispensaries to sell edible marijuana - but only to minors who have the approval of both a psychiatrist and a physician."
The New Jersey governor said he does not want to sign laws that will eventually turn New Jersey into a state to which people come solely to smoke pot. However, he added that he would sign a bill legalizing edible marijuana for people over 18 if presented with enough evidence that they need it to help them better cope with serious ailments.
