Napster Billionaire Sean Parker Gearing Up to Push for Amnesty

Sean Parker, the billionaire co-founder of Napster and prominent Facebook stakeholder, wants to make a splash in the political world in 2014, and he may spend his considerable wealth trying to get amnesty legislation passed.

According to Politico, immigration reform is one of the specific issues Parker cares about. The only Republican Parker has donated to so far is Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL), “who collected $10,200 from Parker last fall after fighting for an immigration compromise in the Senate.” It was a piece of legislation that the Congressional Budget Office determined would lower the wages of American workers. 

But that will change, as associates told the outlet that Parker “plans to donate to both sides starting this year” for the first time.  Like Facebook co-founder Mark Zuckerberg with his pro-amnesty FWD.us group, Parker realized that both sides of the aisle in Washington, D.C.’s permanent political class — and their advisers — are often for sale to the highest bidder. 

Silicon Valley bigwigs like Parker have coveted an increase in guest workers and more H1-B high-tech visas, even though numerous studies have determined that the notion that there is a shortage of American high-tech workers is a myth. He has already reportedly made a seven-figure donation to FWD.us and a six-figure donation to former Rep. Gabby Giffords’ (D-AZ) gun control group. He is socially liberal, and he wrote a $500,000 check to Terry McAuliffe last year to help him win Virginia’s gubernatorial race. Parker has also donated over $20,000 to Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) over the years, according to the report. 

In addition, Parker has reportedly met privately with Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), far-left New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, former Florida Gov. Charlie Crist, and will “co-host a San Francisco fundraiser for state Attorney General Kamala Harris” with prominent tech executives this week. 

Parker has already hired, according to the report, the former chief of staff to former San Francisco Mayor and California Lieutenant Gov. Gavin Newsom and the west coast director of a political group run by Jim Messina, who was President Barack Obama’s campaign manager. He is also reportedly friends with longtime GOP lobbyist Charlie Black, who was also a prominent adviser to Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) during his presidential run in 2008.
