D.C. March for Marriage 2014: 'Kids Deserve a Mom and a Dad'
The 2014 March for Marriage will be held in Washington, D.C. on Thursday, June 19, with its main theme, “Kids Deserve a Mom and a Dad.”
The March for Marriage begins with a rally at 11:00 a.m. and a 1:00 p.m. march, with activities planned for the entire day. Speakers and music are scheduled “to give our attendees the information and edification they need to continue fighting for marriage in their own communities after returning home from the March,” says the website.
The Coalition of African American Pastors (CAAP), led by Rev. William Owens, will serve as one of the main sponsors of the event. CAAP has released a new video about the attack on the black family via the destruction of the traditional family.
“When we talk about the effects of same-sex marriage, we always come back to our two highest values – faith and family,” CAAP states on its website. “It seems so obvious that the destruction of traditional marriage is yet another blow to the black family, with untold harm for our children.”
CAAP states that, in its new video, “we explore the harm done to children and the family by same-sex marriage as well as the absurdity of homosexual advocates attempting to claim the mantle of the civil rights movement. As the video demonstrates, the comparison is ludicrous.”
As Breitbart News reported, in February CAAP launched a campaign to call for the impeachment of Attorney General Eric Holder on the basis that he has violated his oath of office by “attempting to impose same-sex ‘marriage’ throughout the nation…”
“What we have in Attorney General Holder is a man so political in his zeal to redefine marriage that he is willing to run roughshod over the rulings of the Supreme Court, binding federal law, and the United States Constitution along with the constitutions of a majority of states,” Owens, president of CAAP said. “Yet, our leaders in Washington are letting him get away with his illegal conduct and doing nothing meaningful to hold him accountable.”
“In my lifetime, I’ve never seen a president as bad as this president,” Owens continued, adding that Obama deceived the American people by announcing his position on same-sex marriage had “evolved.”
“That is not true. He made the deal with the gay community to let him get elected – his second election – that he would take the issue up,” Owens charged. “But it was always there; he did not ‘evolve.’ It was already there because of their commitments of very large sums of money and his relationship with them.”
In addition to Owens, speakers at the March for Marriage include Fox News host and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee (R); Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone, chairman of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops Subcommittee for the Promotion and Defense of Marriage; Brian Brown and Frank Schubert, both of the National Organization for Marriage (NOM); Rev. Ruben Diaz, New York State Senator (D-Bronx) and president, New York Hispanic Clergy Organization; Ludovine de la Rochère, co-founder and president of La Manif Pour Tous, the traditional marriage campaign in Europe; Ryan Anderson and Jennifer Marshall of the Heritage Foundation; and U.S. Rep. Tim Huelskamp (R-KS).
