T-Mobile CEO John Legere Apologizes After Comparing Competitors to Rapists

BELLEVUE, Wash., June 20 (UPI) -- T-Mobile CEO John Legere received backlash on the Internet after he likened his company's competitors to rapists during a press event Wednesday.

Legere is known for his profanity and brash personality, but critics say he crossed the line when he slammed AT&T and Verizon. During the press conference, revealing that the company will let people test drive its data network for free on the iPhone 5S, Legere took the opportunity to controversially say that other companies don't have customers best interests in mind.

"These high and mighty duopolists that are raping you for every penny you have ... They [expletive] hate you," said Legere.

Social media users let T-Mobile know that they didn't appreciate Legere's rape comparison.

T-Mobile spokeswoman Tolena Thorburn declined to comment on the statement, but Legere took to Twitter to apologize for his comments Thursday.
