Joaquin Castro: Asylum for Illegals from Central America

Rep. Joaquin Castro (D-TX), who is seen as one of the rising stars in his party, believes some of the illegal immigrant children flooding across the border from Central America should be considered for asylum.

“I think the children who came here unaccompanied, some of them as young as 4, 5, or 6 years old, should be given due process and should be considered for asylum,” Castro said, according to Texas Public Radio. He tweeted his suggestion as well:

Many of the children who hv come to our southern border appear to be refugees and should be considered for asylum. #USA

As Breitbart News has reported, “at least 52,000 unaccompanied illegal immigrant minors have crossed the border since October of last year, and nearly 150,000 more may attempt to next year, because they believe the Obama administration” will not deport them.

President Barack Obama said this week that he would enact as many executive actions as he can to change immigration law, and the Congressional Hispanic Caucus gave him a four-page wish list of what they wanted Obama to unilaterally change.
