Gabby Giffords and Mark Kelly's Gun Control Group Raises $2.1 Million

Financial reports filed July 15 show that Gabby Giffords and Mark Kelly’s gun control group, Americans for Responsible Solutions (ARS), raised $2.1 million in the second quarter of 2014.

The quarterly filing shows “notable contributions” included those from DreamWorks CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg ($25,000), John Allan Soros ($5,000), Jennifer Allan Soros ($5,000), and The Weinstein Company, LLC ($5,000).

They also received thousands from Representative Nancy Pelosi’s (D-CA) House Majority PAC.

According to USA Today, ARS “had $9 million in available cash at the end of June” and plans “to use its money to influence House and Senate races” in November.

ARS “has announced 11 contests in which it will be active,” but the quarterly filing shows the gun control group “has not contributed to any federal candidate, or paid for independent expenditures in 2014.”

On June 23, Breitbart News reported that red state Democrats have told Giffords and Kelly to stay out of their states.
