John Boehner: Impeachment Talk All a Democratic Scam
House Speaker John Boehner (R) flatly denied that there were any plans to impeach President Obama, adding that the buzz behind the issue was “coming from the president’s own staff.”
“We have no plans to impeach the president, we have no future plans,” he said.
Boehner dismissed the impeachment buzz as a ploy by Democrats to rally their supporters and to raise money.
“Listen, it’s all a scam started by Democrats at the White House,” he insisted.
Former Governor Sarah Palin called for Obama’s impeachment in early July, citing the crisis on the Southern border as the “last straw."
White House Senior Advisor Dan Pfeiffer added fuel to the impeachment chatter on Friday, during a meeting with reporters at the Christian Science Monitor, advising them not to discount the possibility.
"Impeachment is a very serious thing that has been bandied about by the recent Republican vice presidential nominee and others in a very un-serious way," Pfeiffer said. "We take it very seriously and I don't think it would be a good thing,"
The DCCC raised $2.1 million in online donations during the weekend after Pfeiffer’s remarks, according to the Washington Post.
