Children's Book Lets Families Study 2nd Amendment, Carrying a Gun for Self-Defense

A new children’s book – My Parents Open Carry – teaches 2nd Amendment basics and explains the reasons behind carrying a gun for self-defense.

Written by Brian G. Jeffs and Nathan R. Nephew – co-founders each of Michigan Open Carry, Inc. – the book tries to convey a solid understanding of the basic rights protected by the 2nd Amendment and why Americans throughout the country exercise those rights by carrying a gun for self-defense.

From the book’s website:

My Parents Open Carry was written in the hope of providing a basic overview of the right to keep and bear arms as well as the growing practice of the open carry of a handgun. We fear our children are being raised with a biased view of our Constitution and especially in regards to the 2nd Amendment. Before writing this, we looked for pro-gun children’s books and couldn’t find any. Our goal was to provide a wholesome family book that reflects the views of the majority of the American people, i.e. that self-defense is a basic natural right and that firearms provide the most efficient means for that defense.

One of the central characters in the book is Brenna Strong, a 13-year-old who is accustomed to seeing her mom, Bea, and her father, Richard, legally carrying handguns for self-defense while the family is out together.

The book allows mothers, fathers, and children to learn together about the safety benefits the entire family reaps from parents who lawfully carry guns to protect their own lives and the lives of their children.
