RNC Blasts Obama For 186 Rounds of Golf

The Republican National Committee blasted President Obama for his prodigious golfing habit Thursday.

According to a recent RNC tally, since taking office Obama has played 186 rounds of golf, 22 of which have been on Martha’s Vineyard, where the president is vacationing this week.

By comparison, according to Yahoo News, while in office President Bush played 24 rounds of golf while in office–explaining he felt that “playing golf during a war just sends the wrong signal.”

The RNC seized on the high golf count Thursday with a fundraising email to supporters.

“When Obama was campaigning for the White House, he told Americans that, if elected, he would sacrifice his need for ‘vacations, leisure,’ and that those needs would be ‘gone,'” RNC Press Secretary Kirsten Kukowski wrote. “This week Obama headed to the golf course less than an hour after he arrived on Martha’s Vineyard for his two-week vacation.”

She highlighted the recent criticisms from mainstream reporters Dana Milbank, Jim Acosta of the president’s decision to continue golfing and vacationing with so much turmoil abroad.

“We are asking the same questions and wondering why President Obama has checked out of the White House, abandoned his responsibilities and left the problems in Washington behind for a leisurely vacation,” she wrote. “President Obama is golfing and vacationing instead of doing his job — to lead our country in a time of need.”

Obama is scheduled to return to Washington, D.C. this weekend and is expected to head back to Martha’s Vineyard next week.
