On September 8, the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence filed a lawsuit on behalf of Lindsay Fox, “claiming In Site Firearms and its owner… are responsible for” the 2012 death of her late husband, Officer Brad Fox.
In Site Firearms allegedly sold a gun to Michael Henry, who was buying the gun for Andrew Charles Thomas. Thomas was on probation for forgery and could not purchase a firearm himself.
Fox was an officer in Plymouth Township, Pennsylvania, and was shot and killed by Thomas during an ambush on September 13, 2012. Thomas then killed himself.
According to NBC Philadelphia, upon filing the suit the Brady Center said, “‘Bad Apple’ gun dealers must be held accountable for their irresponsible sales practices in order to make our communities safer.” However, In Site Firearms has yet to be found liable for anything illegal. In fact, the gun purchaser–Michael Henry–was sentenced to “20 to 66 years” in September 2013, and part of his admission in court was to “lying on gun purchase applications.”
The weapon used to kill Fox was one of nine weapons Henry was convicted of buying for sale or transfer to others.
