White House Petition Calls for Amnesty for WH Fence Jumper

The man accused of jumping the White House fence and making it into the residence was simply looking for a better life and deserves amnesty, a new White House petition argues.

Omar Gonzalez was arrested after he scaled the fence and got into the White House in an embarrassing security breach Friday.

Saturday a tongue-in-cheek White House petition appeared on the White House’s “We the People” petition website, using the same style language advocates use to argue for legalization for illegal immigrants and calling for Gonzalez to be given White House residency and a work permit.

“END UNFAIR AND DEMEANING WHITE HOUSE ENTRY LAWS! JUSTICE FOR OMAR GONZALEZ AND ALL WHITE HOUSE MIGRANTS!” the petition demands.

As of publication, the petition had over 1,200 signatures. In order to receive a response from the White House, petitions must reach 100,000 signatures within 30 days.

[R]eform White House access and grant Comprehensive Executive Amnesty & residency to migrant Omar J. Gonzalez & his family

NOT ONE MORE! FREE OMAR!

We urge President Obama to immediately and publicly recognize that Mr. Omar J. Gonzalez, an oppressed migrant, was merely looking for a better life when he entered the White House after going over the classist, divisive and needless fence.

In the interest of White House diversity and what will surely result in adding to the rich tapestry of love and community, we further demand that the President reform the mean-spirited laws regulating access to the People’s House. For justice and peace, upon his next return from the back-nine, Mr. Obama must award permanent lawful WH residency to Mr. Gonzalez and his family, along with a permit to work there. Because.

END UNFAIR AND DEMEANING WHITE HOUSE ENTRY LAWS! JUSTICE FOR OMAR GONZALEZ AND ALL WHITE HOUSE MIGRANTS!
