Congress Calls Oversight Hearing on Ebola during Recess

House Republicans have called for an oversight hearing on Ebola after Thomas Eric Duncan, traveling from Liberia, brought the disease to Dallas, Texas.

According to a press release, the hearing will be held by the House Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations of the Energy and Commerce Committee. It will feature testimony from Dr. Tom Frieden, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease at the National Institutes of Health.

Although Congress is on recess, the hearing will be held on October 16.

In the release, Rep. Tim Murphy (R-PA), chairman of the subcommittee, called the Ebola outbreak “a growing public health concern.”
