The grand jury meeting to decide whether or not to indict Ferguson, Missouri police officer Darren Wilson for the August shooting of teenager Michael Brown has announced that it has made no decision and that it will meet again Monday to continue its deliberations.
NBC News reports that the grand jury is retiring for the weekend and that police, and other law enforcement agencies preparing for the release of the decision, have eased back on their alert level.
Still, a general air of lawlessness seems to exist in and around the St. Louis area as residents prepare for the grand jury decision. Recently a state senator who has been a vocal supporter of the Ferguson protesters was accosted in front of her home in St. Louis early on Saturday morning by an armed thief demanding that she give him the keys to her car.
Local law enforcement is struggling to figure out how to deal with the unrest. Recently it was reported that local police are undergoing “sensitivity training” to learn how to deal with protesters.
But the unrest has been good for one small sector of the local economy. At least one board-up company is reporting banner business.
