2016: Jeb Bush to Speak at Univ. of South Carolina Commencement

Former Florida Governor and potential 2016 GOP presidential candidate Jeb Bush will speak at the University of South Carolina’s winter commencement on December 15.

The school announced that Bush “will receive an honorary degree of doctor of public service at the commencement ceremony,” and be the fourth Bush family member to be honored at the university’s commencement.

Bush, whose support for comprehensive amnesty legislation and Common Core rankles conservatives, recently met with donors in South Carolina while campaigning for Republican South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley’s reelection. He even reportedly reached out to Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) on election night, according to a New York Times report.

Vice President Joe Biden, another potential 2016 candidate, spoke at the university’s spring commencement and former Utah Governor Jon Huntsman, a moderate Republican like Bush, spoke at the university’s commencement in 2011 ahead of his failed presidential bid in which he spent the majority of the campaign chiding conservatives and doing photo shoots with Vogue magazine.
