Trailer Talk: 'The Legend of Kaspar Hauser' Lets Bush-Loving Gallo Throw Us Another Curve Ball

Actor Vincent Gallo has never been one to take the predictable route when it comes to his choice of acting roles. Fresh off playing an American killing Jihadist on the run in “Essential Killing” and a karate chopping, small time crime boss in “Loosies,” Gallo returns to give us … this …

The synopsis for the film is as follows:

A mysterious young man suddenly appears in Nuremberg in 1828. Barely able to walk or speak, a benefactor looks to integrate him into society.

Nowhere in the description does it mention aliens or dancing to strange techno music. The film obviously looks weird, but if it didn’t it probably would not be starring Gallo, and that’s the only part of this film that should guarantee some interest.

Gallo is known for everything from his own “Buffalo ’66” from 1998 to his own publicly spoken and very unpopular viewpoints in some left of center quadrants. The man has been ostracized by the mainstream media for statements like these:

I feel very happy that Bush is our president. One way that you can tell we have a good president, is by how much the French dislike him. The more the French hate him, the better he must be. And they hate this one.

Or this…

I’m so in love with the United States. Not as a patriot. I’m in love with America like it’s my first girlfriend. The geography, the people, the smell, the touch, the taste, the gas stations. I’m madly in love with America. Madly in love. And I was the guy that people used to say, “He’s so European.” I mean, I never felt like that. I don’t relate to those monkeys. I just can’t relate to them. I’m a super American–Captain America.

If after reading those statements you’re not up for anything Gallo has to offer then I don’t know what to tell you. The statements and acts get much more controversial, but I’ll leave the juicy stuff up to the simple act of you typing his name into that good old Google search bar.
