Kid Rock, Lynyrd Skynyrd to Play RNC Convention

This summer’s Republican National Convention promises to be a rowdy affair – on the stage, at least.

Kid Rock, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Trace Adkins have all signed up to perform at the RNC Convention, slated to start Aug. 27 in Tampa, Fla.

The rocker lineup is expected to grow, with acts like Ronnie Dunn of Brooks & Dunn, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Robert Randolph and Night Ranger all in the mix to play at some point during the convention.

Lynyrd Skynyrd’s southern rock bona fides need no amplification, while Kid Rock has shown to be amenable to both sides of the political aisle. Rock remains more aligned with right of center causes, but back in 2008 he expressed his joy over the election of then-Sen. Barack Obama to the presidency.
