New Literary Mag Embraces Iconoclasts, Eschews Political Correctness

Writers who don’t necessarily agree with the left-leaning literary world will soon have a new place to share their prose.

The upcoming fiction magazine Liberty Island promises to “identify and publish the best of a new generation of politically independent and culturally contrarian writers,” says publisher Adam Bellow.

Think McSweeney’s meets 1950s pulp magazines meets Thomas Paine.

The publication will feature short and mid-length fiction in virtually any genre – thriller, crime, fantasy, mystery, adventure, science fiction, satire, historical and political fiction. Liberty, individualism and American exceptionalism are all welcome here.

The publication could use a hand as it ramps up for production. Those who wish to back such a project can visit its crowd sourcing home and make a small donation. Your donations will go toward fleshing out the web site, legal fees and some marketing efforts.
