'District of Corruption' Rocks Box Office in Limited Release
No support from the mainstream press ... no problem.
"District of Corruption," the new muckraking documentary from Judicial Watch and director Stephen Bannon, scored the second highest per-screen average at the box office this past weekend. The film averaged $7,374 over three theaters, behind only heralded newcomer "The Loneliest Planet" with Gael Garcia Bernal.
"Corruption," which casts a gimlet eye at both political parties, got virtually ignored by the press and lacked the kind of marketing boost studios often provide documentary releases.
